.ZACK (Dot Zack)

In 1919, Detroit architect William Balsh designed a neoclassical commercial building at 3224 Locust St. to be used by the Cadillac Automobile Company. It was the same year that women earned the right to vote, and the Treaty of Versailles ended WWI.

Through the years, the 40,000-square-foot Cadillac Building was a spot where memories were made. Thousands of brand new Cadillacs were driven with due pomp and circumstance out of its multi-story showroom and into the carriage houses, carports and garages of St. Louis-area homes.

Today, the Cadillac Building, which once fell to abandon, has been transformed into one of Kranzberg Arts Foundation’s most dynamic arts and event spaces.
