A Deal with the Devil: Terraforming Paradise

by Eric Nauman

Oct. 4 – Nov. 15, 2019
The Gallery at The Kranzberg

Eric Nauman’s interest in art-making began at a young age.  He was inspired by his older brother to begin drawing after being shown a few essential techniques. Sometime after, gazing at a porcelain Care Bears lamp, he realized anything that is man-made was made by a person, a creator, this opened the flood gates to young Eric’s imagination. Art and skateboarding are the two passions he has been fortunate to find and hold onto throughout his life.

His paintings are usually abstract, the paint is often applied with a gestural hand and is completed when they find their place to stop in time.  His sculptures are calculated strikes necessary to cut down conceptual art. The sculptures are laboriously built with a strong sense of craftsmanship and a seasoned knowledge of art-making in general.

Eric’s artistic practice involves taking shots at current corrupt impersonators.  His art reflects his own cultured perspective, social concepts that question how we form public opinion.  At times, Nauman vandalizes his own work, he interprets this act as a high form of propaganda that is essential for evoking or dismissing our own inner dialog.  His exhibitions showcase his own brand of recent advertising that is aimed to put an end to commercial art for the good of all mankind.
