‘Complexities of Home’ considers the expansion and limitations of “home” and claiming comfort in the physical body. Elliott’s portraits are bold pillars, which captivate our eyes with illuminated color combinations, layers of exquisite texture, and a quiet jolt of pause and reflection on what it means to be human.

Collin W. Elliott is a civil worker and advocate for Equity Design, based out of St. Louis, MO. Topics of identity, social constructs, and inequities encompass his work, while inviting others to participate. He has completed an A.F.A in Graphic Design and received a Certificate in Photography at St. Charles Community College. His work has been exhibited at Urb Arts, Mad Art Gallery, and St. Charles Community College as well as Visual Supply Company (VSCO) and Mid Rivers Review.

Statement

In recent work, titled ‘Across The Bridge’, I examine a physical and figurative bridge in which participants can lose or gain opportunity, representation, and/or safety. Extending research and conversation, ‘Complexities of Home’ considers the intersectional challenges of living “on a side” or in between. My intentions of sharing testimony of place and person are to echo experience(s) and serve as documentation for Equity Designers.
